Proper vs. Poor Ventilation
Just like us roofs need to breathe in order to protect your roof.
Proper ventilation should be placed in a way that allows air to enter along the eaves and exit through the roof’s peak.
Poor ventilation can lead can cause a lot of problems. One of the biggest indicators of poor ventilation is ice dams. They form when heavy snow buildup melts during the day and then refreezes when temperatures drop overnight. This can push under shingle and tear your roofing system. The tear leads to water coming into your house. Then that water can cause damage and rot in your home.
